One More for the Depression Playlist

My friend Donna mentioned a John Dowland piece, "In Darkness Let Me Dwell," as a Really Cool Song that I should consider learning. This morning, I went to YouTube and listened to Christina Hogman's version of it.

*giggles hysterically*

It's one of those "Let me slit my wrists in front of you now." songs.

(Lyrics)

In darkness let me dwell; the ground shall sorrow be,
The roof despair, to bar all cheerful light from me;
The walls of marble black, that moist'ned still shall weep;
My music, hellish jarring sounds, to banish friendly sleep.
Thus, wedded to my woes, and bedded in my tomb,
O let me dying live, till death doth come, till death doth come.

In darkness let me dwell

I don't think I can sing it--because I'd have to burst out laughing, at some point of it, just to lighten the mood.

Even weirder, apparently, this is offered as a freaking ringtone! Can you imagine having that on your phone?!

I think "You Stay Here" is a more upbeat piece, and that's a truly scary thought. :)
