Writing: NaNoWriMo has been the absolute last thing on my mind, the last couple of days, but I've decided it's time to get back to working on it.
Today, I finished the installment for 11/05/2008, and it was very difficult and painful to write, because a character in my NaNo novel is going through something similar to what's been going on in my life since Friday, and what her brother Myradin feels almost exactly mirrors my emotions. I was crying during part of what I wrote, this morning. But I'm going to work at getting caught up. I committed to this, and I think my friend would have wanted me to finish.
Gaming: We went gaming last night, and the evening was a celebration of the fact that our DM, a tenure-track assistant professor, has received confirmation that an article she wrote for a peer-reviewed journal has been accepted for publication. This is one of the two peer-reviewed publications she needs to make tenure. She is almost done with the second article she wants to submit, and she will be sending that one out shortly. Tenure would mean job security for her, so I fervently hope that she'll be able to get confirmation on this second article before she has to go in for her tenure review.
The problem is, she has to present actual hard-copies of the journals with her arcitles printed in them, and time is running out. I think her tenure review is in 2011. She submitted the article that just got accepted in 2006. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for her.
Terry: *begins singing "I Like-a You" in a very silly-sounding Italian accent.* Our DM joins in.
Steve: *shaking head sadly* "And I have to ask myself--upbringing or genetics?"
Aside from that, nothing much going on.
