Aerden [userpic]

I'm feeling restless today. I've been looking at some shared-world LJ communities, partly liking them and partly thinking they are too unwieldy. When you have over 1000 people contributing to the creation of a world...that's just too much.

But it sounds so neat.

This is driving me crazy. The urge to create something is welling up in me, but I don't know what. I think that's why I've been thinking about Pern and Trek RP's. I want to do something, but at the moment, writing a work as detailed as a novel isn't it.

Dammit, Chantal! Quit reading my mind.

I'm near the end of revision hell on my manuscript, and the urge to set up a shared world is biting at me. There's Pern, true, and an Elfquest group I'm part of--but I'm dying to set up something that's not either one.

I'm toying with a couple of options. What are you thinking of?

Kris--Well...I'm interested in fantasy, but I don't want to have ten gazillion different races running around. I'd like to just concntrate on humans and just have lots of different human culture. But I'd like there to be possibilities for magic, deital, and telepathic powers, and it would be interesting to see how these cultures use these powers and how they interact.

I could even go for an area with higher technology than medieval, but I'd want it to be somewhat isolated, so the lower-tech groups could write what they want without intrusion from the higher-tech peoples. Maybe even have it be two separate planets in the same solar system.

Basically, I'd like to have some provision made for higher technology; it's just that I want to write low-tech with 'magic.'

Any ideas for what you want to write?
