Aerden [userpic]
A New Character Journal

My character tarran_glennis from Imperial Secrets has demanded his own journal, and I gave in.

I am such a pushover.

Merry Christmas to everyone! I wish you all the best of the season and happiness in the new year.

Current Mood: pleasedpleased

This game looks really interesting. I looked over the website and think it might be something worth getting into. I used to play several PBM games years ago, and loved them to death. Could you tell me about this game...what you like and what you its like to play it?

Athanasios--Hey, congratulations on your win! :D

Imperial Secrets is a wonderful game. It used to be a lot more active, and we're trying to build it back up. I have been in since February of 1999, and I love it.

What I like the most, aside from the other players in the game, is the writing aspect and the fact that there is not a lot of GM direction, except from certain over-arching plots. Mostly, players are free to create their own stories for their characters and to have them interact with other people's characters as they see fit. It is not round-robin (Thank you, God!), and the main forms of writing in it are the longish solo post or joint posts, which are written with other players, usually via email, but they can also be done via a chat client.

Another thing I like is the richness of the world. Currently, the game has four settings, which are large island-continents on the planet Etherea. My characters exist on the oldest (gamewise) of these, which is called L'Isle (pronounced 'leel').

All four settings currently active (L'Isle, Fresia, Aeros, and Keska) have well-developed culture, religions, and history, since the game has been around for four years.

Mundanely, the game has had some setbacks. Its creator left last April, after revealing that he was not the person he had presented himself to us as. What amazes me, though, is, that a game created by someone who was, in fact, a 15 year-old boy at the time (not an 18 or so year-old woman), became this good and has stayed together for this long. It amazes me and gladdens me to no end that the game has survived his departure. We are still writing in it, and we still love the place. Truly, a game is only as good as its players.

I hope you do decide to join, Athanasios; we're looking for good players/writers, and it would be great to have you! There are a couple of ways you can apply--either by submitting a form through the site at imperialsecrets.com or by emailing a text application to lilee_willowoak@yahoo.com.

Let me know if there's anything else you're curious about! :)

I have fingers crossed on getting approval.

Viv--I saw your message on the L-Isle list. Yea! :D
