Monday Happenings

TA: Well, bummer! Something is wrong with Yahoo Mail.. My emailbox is 'temporarily inaccessible.' So I can's update the Paul and Lilith work in progress that Viv and I are writing for two_alleys_rpg. *sigh* I'll try again later this evening; maybe I can get through then.

Heard on the Bus: This was too funny!

Girl: "Stop chasing me!"
Boy: "I'm not chasing you. You run for no apparent reason!"
Girl, whispered to her friend: "I swear, he's like a dog chasing a car."
Boy: "I heard that!"

Life: I have an appointment with the eye doctor tomorrow--during which I suspect I will spend a total of five minutes with the doctor, fifteen minutes with his student, and two hours in the waiting room.

Family: This weekend was really nice. Mark and I took my parents out to lunch for a belated Mother's Day dinner, and then Mark and I went to visit my grandparents, who are both 92. This June, I think they will have been married for about 67 years. They are two amazing people, and I'm grateful that I have been able to know them and learn from them for this long.

Writing: At last, the little Garedin in my head woke up and started nudging me to write about him again. I've worked out some of the history of Marellas and Khador, the two principal kingdoms in The Boy from the Sea.

I think what I need to do next is develop Prince Azrin's personality and background in a lot more detail, so that I can understand why he does what he does in the book, why he wants the things he does. He and Garedin are supposed to be twins, yet they are vastly different from each other, and I need to work out why, so I can know how to proceed with the book.

"Muskrat Love"
(Willis Alan Ramsey)

Muskrat, Muskrat, candle light
Doin' the town and doin' it right in the evenin'
It's pretty pleasin'
Muskrat Suzie, Muskrat Sam
Do the jitterbug at a Muskrat Land
And they shimmy, Sam is so skinny

And they whirl and they twirl and they tango
Singin' and jinglin' a jangle
Float like the heavens above
Looks like Muskrat Love

Nibblin' on bacon
Chewin' on cheese
Sam says to Suzie
Honey, would you please be my Mrs
Suzie says, yes, with her kisses
Now, he's ticklin' her fancy
Rubbin' her toes
Muzzle to muzzle
Now anything goes as they wriggle
Sue starts to giggle

And they whirled and they twirled and they tango
Singin' and jinglin' a jangle
Floatin' like the heavens above
Looks like muskrat love.
