Just a Quickie

Just a quick entry, because my bus was very late, and I still have NaNoWriMo to do--

Work: My co-worker H. comes up to me and asks very earnestly, "Chantal, what's the German word for priest?"

I stand there and wrack my brains, and the best I can come up with is, 'Vater'

H. says "No, it's German Shepherd."

I had no idea H. could tell jokes like that; she never seemed the type. I'm delighted! :D

I have jury duty tomorrow. The thought of how much work I'll have to do on Wednesday--if I'm not picked for a jury--makes me want to cringe.

Lighthouse: I've discovered that the Lighthouse of Houston's annual ceramics sale will be held around the early part of December. I think I'll take half a day off on that date and go visit some of my old friends.

TV: I watched some of Elizabeth: The Virgin Queen last night on PBS. After sitting through about half an hour of watching Robert Dudley play power tennis, I got bored and turned off the TV. I have to say, though, the lighting and the sound were absolutely authentic-appearing, and I was much impressed with those aspects of it.

Off to do NaNo now! Though a part of me would like to skip the rest of NaNo and just start the editing. :)

Current Mood: busybusy

I got my first jury duty summons this week, and though intellectually I know I'll be fine, I'm a little nervous...
Hope yours goes well!

Jury duty

So how did it go?

I've been called a couple times. The first one was for a federal grand jury and I served on that for 18 months. Meeting a few times a month. Some very interesting cases. And what was nice was I didn't have to decide guilt or innocence, just whether there was enough evidence to go to trial or to charge someone.
