Serenity (spoiler-free)

Serenity: It's every bit as good, the second time around. *happy sigh* I really wish that Star Trek the Motion Sickness had been this good. Serenity is well and tightly plotted, with a lot of wonderful dialogue. You even come to like the bad guy.

I could go on for hours, but I'll shut up now. Just go see Serenity! (g)

Star Trek the Motion Sickness

BWAH HAH HAH!!!

Oh, God . . . I remember seeing that movie when I was twelve (on HBO) and thinking, "Oooog. Stomach all twisty."

At that time, MAD Magazine was one of my favorite things to read; they did a great parody of Star Trek: TMP that was utterly immature and hilarious. ::wipes sentimental tear from eye:: Good times.

I love Mad and Cracked magazines! Still do. And I would love to see the Serenity parodies in them. *snicker*

I remember being terribly disappointed in ST-TMP because it was so darned boring. My Mom had gone blind a couple of years before, so I was very conscious of the part in the movie in which nothing happened by music playing and long shots of V'ger floating in space--which meant that Mom, who was a big Trek fan, sat there feeling kind of clueless until we told her that no, nothing in fact was happening; she hadn't missed much.

One of my favorite Cracked parodies was of the old Battlestar Galactica. There's one bit with Adama standing at the drive-through window of a Jack in the Box ordering one hundrred thoughsand some-odd Whoppers, hold the mayo on 14,238 of them, and one other kind of burger--with cheese. (something like that.) I miss that thing. :)

Some people have been saying lately that ST-TMP's mistake was in trying to mimtate 2001: A Space Odyssey. Maybe there ywere right.
