This evening, we drove out to a little town called Gruene, Texas. It boasts the country's oldest surviving dance hall, built in 1873. Part of the movie Michael was filmed there. It has a lot of antique stores and a bed and breakfast, as well as the Gristmill Restaurant, situated on the banks of the Guadelupe River. You can eat on a balcony overlooking the river, and the scenery is just gorgeous.

I did the touristy thing--bought a t-shirt, as well as some stuff for Mark--a jar of dilled garlic and a bottle of Ass-Kickin' Roasted Garlic Hot Sauce. I also bought a half-sized broom as part of my ongoing mission to get a small broom and a dustpan with a long handle to make sweeping the kitchen easier.

We went into this wonderful antique shop, but it was 10 minutes before closing, alas. I'd love to be able to go back earlier in the day.

The sidewalks in this town are all brick, which is neat!

Mark taped Dog for me. I'm looking forward to finding out what happened on House.
