Voice Lesson #9: During today's voice lesson, we primarily concentrated on the Italian aria, "Nel Pur Ardor," that I am learning. It is by Iacopo Peri, from his opera L'Euridice. I am in total love with the first verse and will probably love the second verse, too, until my teacher starts making me put ornamentation in the thing. *sigh*

Yes, I'm probably going to whine and gripe about this continuously, until I get used to it. Sorry. I have to admit, though, I do think I sound good, singing the song. Next week, I start learning the words. Last week and this week, my teacher has had me counting out the rhythm of it. "And two and three and four and one and two and three and four...And two and three and four--and one and twoey and a three and four..."

I am wondering if she will want me to perform this piece eventually. I know piano students give piano recitals, but I'm not familiar with voice recitals.

On the other hand, I don't really want to think about the prospect of me performong baroque opera before an audience right now. I'm not ready to contemplate that!

What happened to the part of me that is a total ham? Where did she go?
