Tuesday Update

World News: It seems that Osama bin Laden now claims in a new videotape that Zacharias Moussaoui had nothing to do with the attacks on 9/11/01. He couldn't have made this statement when it might have done Moussaoui any good. No, he has waited until the trial was concluded. Sorry, I'm not buying it. This is a ploy to tie the case up in litigation forever. I hope people recognize it for the sham it is. If your friend (or cohort) is in jail, and you have information that can get him out, give the information before the conviction.

On the other hand, I have to admit that bin Laden's word before the conviction as to Moussaoui's guilt or innocence would simply have raised scorn. Now it can raise controversy.

Horses: I'm very glad to hear that Barbaro is healing well after his leg fracture. Have you noticed, though, that Barbaro's injury has sucked all of the media attention away from Bernadini, the horse that actually won the Preakness? Something's just wrong about that.

Health: I got out of the eye doctor's office in under two hours. I couldn't believe it! And I came away with a piece of baklava from the snack store in the lobby. Yum!

I also bought a bottle of Tropicana lemonade. While waiting for Mark to pick me up, I read the ingredient list on the bottle. I ask you, why does this bottle of lemonade contain ester of wood rosin? Lemonade is supposed to consist of three things--water, lemon juice concentrate, and sweetener, with maybe some preservatives, period. I do not like having high-fructose corn syrup, salt, ester of wood rosin, and yellow dye #5 in my lemonade. Is nothing sacred?

TV: I've decided that I will watch Dog tonight instead of House, if it's the wedding episode. If I missed the wedding episode, then I'll watch Dr. House get shot. And I'll watch King of Cars afterward.
I'm the DOG!

@<-<-- Barbara Katy Chapman --<-<@

Barbara Chapman was the daughter of Duane 'Dog' Chapman. She was killed in an automobile accident in Alaska the day before Dog and Beth, his partner, were to be married. The family went ahead with the wedding on Saturday and turned it into a celebration of the marriage and of Barbara's life. Dog and his family are complete strangers to me, but I've gotten acquainted with them in a way through the show. I can't even imagine how horrible this must be for them. She was only 23.

According to at least one news story, the SUV she was in was stolen, and there's suspicion that drugs of some sort were involved--I don't know if that's on her part or that of the other person in the car. I hope it wasn't Dog's daughter under the influence, because he is so dead-set against illegal drugs. I would hate for him to have lost his daughter because of them.
