Weather: I should have learned by now not to rely on Mark for weather information. :P This morning I asked him if he had any idea what the weather was likely to be today. He said, "Hot and sticky, as usual."

So I went outside. I turned north, around the corner. I about had a fit. There were dark, nasty-looking clouds rolling straight south toward me, with a leading edge where a front of some sort was moving in. They were coming in fast, too. I'm hoping that means this will blow over quickly. I didn't enounter much rain until I got to the northern part of Houston, and it didn't pour, even though the clouds sure looked as if we ought to get a lot of rain from them.

The Voices, The Voices: A conversationbetween Mark and me last night:

Mark, at the computer: "Your eye is hurting again?"

Me, in bed: "Yeah, a little bit." *pause* O.O "You're reading my journal?"

Mark: "Yep, I check it out every once in a while."

Me: "Cool! Oh my god. You've seen all of my Paul angsting, haven't you?"

Mark: "Paul angsting?"

Me: You know, where I type in 'conversations' with the little Paul in my head."

Mark: "Oh yeah! Kind of like Baron Harkonnen in Alia's mind."

Me, laughing: "No, not like that, thank God."

The Little Paul in My Head, to Mark: "Yes, precisely like that! Because then, she might actually write the bloody novel about me instead of merely talking about it incessantly. I am so glad you understand."

I'm beginning to think that what I should really do is write a story about the 'conversations.'

PSA: Livejournal will be holding a permanent account sale starting at midnight on June 7 Eastern Standard Time, for anyone who is interested.

Oh, coolness! I just found out that Katherine Blake, author of a wonderful book called The Interior Life, is actually Dorothy J. Heydt! I must now read more of Heydt's books...

I went to my boss' office to ask her something at 5pm, and the sky outside was blue--a perfect, crystal-clear, serene blue! The trees outside were a sunlit, vibrant green, and the grass looked so velvety and lush, I practically wanted to roll in it. Wow....

I know they say, "If you don't like the weather in Houston, wait five minutes, and it'll change." But geeze! :)

I'm feeling somewhat better. I was able to breathe more normally today, without so much coughing and shortness of breath/hyperventilating. I went out to lunch with my co-workers C. and J. to Taco Cabana and had some delicious chicken fajita quesadillas. I enjoyed talking and getting to spend some time with them outside of work.

I'll be manning an information booth at a hotel near Hobby Airport on Saturday for an event hosted by the American Council for the Blind in T4exas. It'll be a way to earn some overtime pay and build up leave hours in case I need them. So far, the eye situation seems to be under control, so I'm hoping to avoid surgery until at least July, if it's needed at all. It was a bit sore yesterday, but it doesn't feel too painful today. In fact, I think much of the soreness may be due to my eyelashes sticking together from the eyedrops. Not sure on that, though.

I'm off to Amazon to look for a book on early retirement that I want to buy. After that I hope to meet with baghdaelf and possibly crackferret for a bit. Wish me luck! (g)
