Seen in lordavon's journal:

Check out Buy Nothing Christmas.org and view their catalogue of gifts that money can't buy. Their Christmas carol singing at the mall would have made Ghandi proud. (g)

I do think it's a neat idea, but if people widely implement it, we'll have to do something to make up the economic shortfall. A good economy means jobs. Christmas is the biggest selling season of the year. So how could we balance things so that there is not a great loss to the econmy, while still allowing us to retain the more spiritual meaning of Christmas?

According to musesong, the gift-giving part is mainly a holdover from the Roman Saturnalia, anyway, not specifically related to Christmas.

Cats: Kelli, you have to read this cat story by caniche. Have you ever seen anything like that?

Has anyone ever heard of something called SMS.ac? I received an invitation to join--looks like it's something by which you can send text messages to people over your mobile phone.

I read the TOS, and it's a good thing I did. It seems that, according to the profile information you provide, these people will 'put you in contact with' people who share your interests, or put them in contact with you--and charge you for this dubious privilege.

Needless to say, I'm not signing up. I get enough wackoes wanting to talk to me on YM and AIM.

Snow! Little, tiny flurries which melt as soon as they hit the ground, but they're still SNOW! In Houston!!!
