I went shopping in Sharpstown Mall yesterday to buy a business suit at Foley's. They were having their Mother's Day sale, so I was able to get a sixty-something dollar silk suit for $55. Nice bargain, considering there were some suits there selling for $280. *choke!*

Gee, Foley's, people who are looking for work need to buy suits, too, you know! Especially if they've gained weight outgrown the suits they currently own.

So anyway, it's a nice suit; I'm very satisfied with it, and I'm doing my exercises. I insist on getting back down to a size 3.

After buying the suit and eating an Arby's Beef and Cheddar sandwich, I went into another store to look around. I discovered that medieval is back in! There were blouses with bell sleeves! Blouses with slit-hem sleeves! One of the store salespeople was wearing a top with slashed sleeves!!

She wasn't wearing it properly, with a chemise, of course, but stil! All I could think, over and over was, This is so cool!!! and Wow! After 600 years, this stuff is back in style!

Me, I'm waiting for the Italian Renaissance fashions to come back in style. That was some pretty stuff, and it was even reasonably comfortable to wear, with not a lot of complicated corseting.

Now, I just have to get my suit altered--the sleeves are too long. I'll probably have to fold them in for my interview, if that won't look too terrible. There's a cleaner's across the street that does alterations, but you have to bring the items to them already pinned--which I've never heard of anyone doing. I've asked my friend Karina to do the alterations, instead, as she sews and would know how to pin the sleeves properly.

Today, we're going to my grandparents' house--my mother's parents--for Mother's Day. Mom and Dad are bringing barbecue, cole slaw, a potato salad, and cake, I think. I'm bringing macaroni and cheese.

Yeah, I know--eating food like that and having this illusion that I'm working to lose weight. I'll just have to take a walk when I come home and do some more exercises. I found my little hand-weights. I think they're 2-5 lbs. each, and I use them to tone my biceps. I think I might ask my parents for ankle weights or something for my birthday. If it's true that you have to do 45 minutes of weight training and 15 minutes of cardio exercises a day to lose weight, I can see some of why I'm not losing any.

Still, it's my theory that, if you exercise enough, you can eat what you bloody well please, as long as you take care not to eat things which will clog your arteries. I saw a documentary on logging a while back, and it said that loggers would consume upwards of 3,000 calories a day and not gain weight, because they were working so hard. So there you go.
