Aerden [userpic]
Why I Worship Theresa McGray

Because of this portrait of Severus Snape. Just exquisite. It is the second-best piece of art featuring Professor Snape that I have ever seen. The best piece of Snape art ever is here.

I wish I could describe it to you, leianora. Words fail me. The portrait has penetrating, black eyes, which are its most powerful feature, and the jawline is more cleanly shaped than Alan Rickman's. In this portrait, Snape also has thick, dark eyebrows, and the hair looks real, instead of like that wretched wig they have Rickman wear in the movies.

Oh my! yummy!!

So, if Allen hadn't played Severus, whom would you have picked? I really don't like him in the role, crazy as that sounds. I don't hear is voice when I write him anymore.

Re: Oh my! yummy!!

I think Hugo Weaving could have done a brilliant Snape. He's the guy who played Elrond in Lord of the Rings. Also, his face is thin enough and sharp enough for the way I imagine Snape's face to look. Rickman is good, but I don't get an impression of thinness from him. He has broad shoulders, and his chin is too fleshy.

Rickman is, however, far better-looking than the Snape in Mary Grandpre's illustrations. He's horrible, a bald guy with a flat head and a moustache. Just awful!

Wow... that's amazing artwork indeed!

I have to resist the urge to go to that page and stare deeply into those eyes. It is incredible work!
