Celebrities in the News

Michael Jackson: I see Michael Jackson is a free bird, now. It remains to be seen whether children are in fact safe from him. If I were his mother, I'd take him aside, sit him down, and tell him, "Son, you just dodged a very big bullet today. You had better shape up, act normal, and fly right. Get some counseling, if you know what's good for you. And make sure there's not a third time that you're brought up on charges like these, because it'll be pretty hard to believe that you're innocent, the more often this happens."

To my mind, it is not at all to his credit that he is celebrating with his fans at Neverland right now. I would be a lot more circumspect and respectful of the accusation, even if he was found not guilty.

Tom Cruise: I was interested to see that the author of an article in the Entertainment section of the Houston Chronicle is very Not Impressed with the recent antics of Mr. Cruise. Usually, the Chronicle treats celebrity things like the fluff they are, but this writer was extremely disapproving and thinks Cruise is damaging his own career by behaving as he is--flaunting his relationship with Katie Holmes, being a publicity hound, etc. I have to admit, I wonder what's going on with him. You don't see John Travolta doing some of the stuff Cruise is doing. Interesting also is that Katie Holmes, like Cruise's previous wife Nicole Kidman, is Catholic--or was before she got sucked into Scientology.

I don't get the appeal of Scientology, myself. I read Dianetics and wasn't impressed. Besides, knowing that this so-called 'religion' was crafted by science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard, who bet he could do it while at a science fiction convention, tells me there's no deep spirituality in it--though one could validly argue that depth of spirituality in a religion is dependent on how much faith the believer invests.

Me, I'll take Catholicism and Wicca. I trust them more. I feel more reverence for them and in them.

For a little background info on L. Ron Hubbard check out info on Jack Parsons:

Very interesting... Hmmm. I wonder were Hubbard got his inspiration?

Hey, thanks for the link!
