Writing With Love

Mark just told me about an interview he watched on TV featuring Ray Bradbury. Bradbury said something that Mark found interesting--and I have added it to my Quotations page: "Write what you love, with love."

It's a good point. Mark said he had been planning to write a caustic opinion piece about the Space Shuttle program and how it hasn't worked. But Bradbury's advice has changed his mind. He says that he will mention some of the problems, but that he wants to change the tone of his article, now.

I like that. Love comes through. He could write a blistering article that would start lots of flamewars, etc. But the audience I think Mark really wants to reach is the audience of people who love space and the challenges of space exploration. Those are the ones whose hearts he wants to touch. As for others--you appeal to more flies with honey than with vinegar. I think love will change more minds than disgust and anger ever will.

So I score high as Yoda, but right under Yoda, I also score high as Anakin, Padme, and as Darth Vader? So not comforting! Makes me wonder if there is more of Paul in me than I thought. :P

I can certainly see the Padme part.

*grin!* I liked Padme. But I begin to wonder if the reason I ranked as Yoda is because I admitted to being short. *snickers*

I don't think so. I got Yoda too, and I'm not at all short at 5'11".

Speaking of Padme, I'm reminded of a double dactyl my friend Martin Demello wrote a few years ago:

Higgledy piggledy,
Natalie Portman
The slash-dotter idolized
Queen of Naboo
Said that she wouldn't
entirely object to
The thought of a
Lesbian lover or two.

(Inspired by the lovely lady's comments in a People Magazine article, I recollect.)
