Sabbatum

I bought myself an early Christmas present. It's a CD called Sabbatum, by an Estonian group called Rondellus. They are mainly a medieval group, but they did something unusual in this album. They took twelve Black Sabbath songs, translated them into medieval Latin, and have arranged them for voice with medieval instruments.

The result is amazing! I don't know what Ozzy Osbourne would make of this album, but I love it! If I didn't know better, I would think that these were church songs. The group is comprised of some wonderfully talented and well-trained vocalists, and they just sound marvelous. I could listen to this album all day, and I've already played it three times, today.

You can order the Sabbatum album through CD Baby, which is based in Oregon. They seem to have quite a good variety of the neat medieval and Renaissance music that I like in their classical collection. I plan to buy more music from them, when I get the chance.

::sigh:: I guess I should go to bed, now. See you all later!

Re: medieval?

It is. I was very impressed. They use organum and some polyphony. It's luscious.
