Why I Love Writing

I wish I could write like this all the time.

*happy sigh*

Just...something that beautiful. Or maybe it's just the joy I feel from remembering the writing of that piece, rather than any objective skill in the writing itself.

Actually, after thinking about it, I'm sure my writing isn't all that spectactular here; it's the writing plus the song lyrics that makes this bit so powerful, to me. Alone, I think the writing is just average. But with "Kathy's Song" included...Wow.

*sighs happily again*

I'm sure moonwolf41 would tell me I'm over-analyzing, and I probably am. :)

Good night!

Yeah, but you ALWAYS over-analyse everything! :)

No, honestly, I think you've nailed this one. The writing is good, the emotional description does paint a definite picture. But the addition of the song lyrics REALLY brings the picture out in your mind.

I know the feeling of wanting to be able to write that way all the time. We all have our pieces of writing that we just love and wish all our works could be as good. Alas, life and writing doesn't work that way, and even the best writers have times when they look at something they've written and think "how in the WORLD did I manage to write THAT? It's HIDEOUS!"

Yep. Paul Simon is a God. (g)

I have indeed written some things that I look back on and cringe at. Like, "What was I thinking when I wrote that?!"

It just makes me all the more grateful for the times when I finish something and am awed that I wrote it. (sort of an "Oh, thank God; I can still write!" feeling)
