Readers' Digest Forays

Seen in a 1993 issue of Readers' Digest:

"There is nothing nobler or more admirable than when two people who see eye to eye keep house as man and wife, confounding their enemies and delighting their friends." --Homer

* * *

Vidiot Savant: A woman complains to her friend that she screwed up trying to program her VCR and so didn't record the program she wanted. Her friend says that she has no trouble with the VCR.

This surprises the first woman, who knows that her friend is technologically inept; even garage door openers give her trouble.. Heartened by the thought that, if her friend could conquer the mysteries of the VCR, she could, too, the first woman diligently studies her VCR manual some more.

A few weeks later, the first woman sees a teenaged girl walking toward the front door of her friends house. She tells the girl, "Oh, she isn't home this afternoon."

To which the girl replies, "I know. She pays me to let myself in and press the 'Record' button on her VCR."

God, I love Readers' Digest!

Housecleaning: I finally have a need to go in and do a white tornado act in our living room. Normally, I don't pay attention to our living room. We don't use it, so it has become a place to pile Stuff. Now, though, I want to use it for my ritual space, so it must be cleaned. *whimpers*

I am such a lame-assed dork when it comes to housekeeping. There are so many things I would rather do. On the other hand, it would be so lovely to have a living room once again that is fit for company! *feels a bit more enthused*
